Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering Opportunities

All volunteers share a strong commitment to our mission of providing holistic care to refugees and torture survivors. Volunteers and interns generally serve in these key areas:

Refugee Patient Navigators
*Please refer to the instructions at the top of this page on how to apply for this position!
Many of our clients have little or no experience with the American health care system, and face a number of barriers to accessing care. To ease their transition, Refugee Patient Navigators (RPNs) help provide new patients with the necessary resources and navigational tools to reduce these barriers. Our RPN program allows volunteers to interact with clients directly by: facilitating appointment scheduling, conducting reminder phone calls, assisting with new client intake and orientation, and providing clients with the information and tools they need to successfully navigate the complex health care system. RPNs also receive training on interacting with survivors of torture.
Requires: A commitment of at least one FULL Work day per week for 6 months. Must be reliable, flexible, a good communicator, good at troubleshooting, self-reflective and at least 18 years old. Experience working in a trauma-setting is preferred.
